Hellweg Offers Solid Start For Nashville
March 18, 2013

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Right-hander Johnny Hellweg allowed one hit over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and the Nashville offense rapped out 12 hits in the Sounds' 6-2 victory over the Columbus Clippers (AAA-Indians) on Saturday afternoon at Goodyear Development Complex.

Hellweg, who is rated as the Brewers' #6 prospect by Baseball America entering the season, struck out two batters and walked a pair in his 42-pitch effort to pick up the win.

Right-handers Chris Jakubauskas (1.1 hitless IP) and Jesus Sanchez (2.0 scoreless IP) also worked from the Nashville hill and turned in solid outings in the contest.

Offensively, outfielder Rene Tosoni led the way with a 2-for-5, two-RBI day that included a double. Josh Prince, Hunter Morris, Blake Davis, and Adam Weisenburger all contributed two-hit efforts for the Sounds. Morris and Scooter Gennett joined Tosoni with doubles in the contest.

The Sounds (2-0) continue their spring slate with a home contest on Sunday afternoon against the PCL rival Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA-Royals) at Maryvale Baseball Park.
