Quakes Thump Ports on Friday!

June 14, 2013

Rancho Cucamonga, CA -  Jonathan Garcia homered twice and Jarret Martin gave the Quakes five strong innings, as Rancho Cucamonga stopped a four-game losing streak with an impressive 13-2 win over the Stockton Ports on Friday night at LoanMart Field.

Martin gave up a two-run homer to Max Muncy in the first inning, but that was Stockton's only highlight of the night, as Martin went on to fan eight and allow just two hits over the next four innings.

The Quakes gave him plenty of run support for a second straight game, putting 13 runs on the board and tallying 17 hits. Jonathan Garcia was at the front of the parade, as he finished with four hits and five RBIs, including a pair of two-run homers, giving him 16 on the year.

Scott Schebler also homered for Rancho, his second in as many games and his eighth of the year.

Chris Jacobs contributed with four hits, including three doubles, driving in two on the night.

Martin (5-6) was followed with a strong bullpen effort, as JonMichael Redding, Joel Lima, Pedro Baez and Eric Eadington allowed just one hit over four scoreless frames.

Stockton starter Shaeffer Hall (1-1) couldn't get out of the third, as he gave up five runs in the third and a total of eight runs on nine hits over just two-plus innings.

The Quakes (31-37) will send Carlos Frias (0-0) to the mound in his first appearance of the year on Saturday night, as he'll be opposed by Stockton's Tanner Peters (7-4) at 7:05pm.

Everyone will enjoy a post-game Fireworks Display after Saturday's game, courtesy of Mercedez-Benz of Ontario. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
