Loewen Hits 10th Homer in 5-2 Loss

Altoona Tops Fisher Cats For Seventh Straight

ALTOONA, PA- Adam Loewen hit his tenth home run of the season, but Altoona rallied for its seventh straight win, topping the Fisher Cats 5-2 on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

The Fisher Cats (33-38) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Kevin Pillar led off the game with a walk, stole second, and scored on an error for a 1-0 lead.

New Hampshire extended the lead to 2-0 in the top of the fourth on Loewen's home run, a solo shot into the bleachers in left field. It was his sixth home run this month. 

Altoona (32-37) battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mel Rojas Jr. doubled and scored on a triple by Gregory Polanco. Alex Dickerson followed with a sacrifice fly, plating Polanco, to even the score at two.

The Curve won the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gregory Polanco doubled and Alex Dickerson hooked one around the foul pole in right for a two-run homer and a 4-2 lead. Jarek Cunningham tripled, scoring on a single by Charlie Cutler.

Deck McGuire (3-7) took the loss, working six innings, allowing five hits and five runs. He walked one and struck out six. Randy Boone tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Fisher Cats

Ethan Hollinsworth (3-3) picked up the win in relief of starter Eliecer Navarro. Luis Sanz worked around an error in the ninth for his fifth save for Altoona.

The series concludes on Thursday with a 7:05pm game against the Curve at Peoples Natural Gas Field. RHP Ryan Tepera (6-5, 4.22) starts for the Fisher Cats against Altoona RHP Casey Sadler (7-4, 2.98). The Fisher Cats will return home for a seven-game homestand beginning Monday, June 24, against the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) and the Future Red Sox, the Portland Sea Dogs.
