Fellhauer brings bat back to Pensacola, Lutz to DL

Top bat in 2012 lineup returns
August 13, 2013

The league's 2012 runner up to the batting title, Josh Fellhauer returns to the Blue Wahoos to fill the void in the lineup left by Donald Lutz who suffered a broken finger in Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Suns.

Fellhauer has spent the season with Triple-A Louisville prior to getting transferred to Pensacola, a display of support from the Reds for a Wahoos team that is in the midst of a playoff race in the Southern League South Division. The left-handed hitting outfielder led the team with a .314 average, falling one point shy of Montgomery's Omar Luna for the league batting crown.

This season, he was Louisville's top bat with a .274 average in 90 games for former Blue Wahoos manager Jim Riggleman.

Lutz has been placed on the disabled list with a fractured finger. Powerful left fielder was hitting .240 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 59 games.

RHP Shaun Ellis has been transferred to Bakersfield. The mid-season All-Star was 3-2 with a 4.33 ERA in 26 games including nine starts.
