Liz Riley Nominated for Woman Executive of the Year

Portland, Maine- The Eastern League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced the league nominees for Minor League Baseball's post-season awards. Liz Riley, the Sea Dogs Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales & Promotions, is the Eastern League nomination for the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year Award.

The Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year award is given out annually to one woman executive from either Major League or Minor League Baseball who has made an outstanding contribution to her club, league or to baseball. The winner will be selected by Minor League Baseball and will be honored at the 2013 Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, Florida in December.

"Thank you to the Eastern League for this incredible honor, there are many talented women executives throughout the league that make outstanding contributions to both their clubs and communities" stated Riley. "I am fortunate to work with an incredibly talented and experienced staff with top notch leadership and ownership at the Sea Dogs."

Riley has been with the Sea Dogs for seven seasons and has advanced through the organization earning a promotion to Assistant General Manager & Director of Sales & Promotions in the fall of 2012. Riley, 31 years-old, has previously served as the teams Assistant Director of Ticketing (2007), Director of Group Sales (2008-2010), and Director of Marketing/ Promotions (2011-2012).

In her current role as Assistant General Manager & Director of Sales & Promotions, Riley assists in the overall management of the day-to-day operations of the organization. She is responsible for overseeing the teams' corporate sales efforts as well as the teams' promotional efforts. She also serves as the teams' on-field emcee during games. Riley has consistently exceeded her sales goals each season. Additionally, she has increased the amount of promotional activities at the ballpark over the last two seasons. She is responsible for the popular Flat Screen Fridays, musical acts at the ballpark, and the "All the Hair You Can Spare" event. In 2013, Riley coordinated two of the most popular promotions of the year; Civil War night and North Woods Law night.

Riley not only makes strong contributions to the Sea Dogs organization but also the Minor League Baseball industry and is actively involved in the greater Portland community. Riley serves on the Women Working in Baseball committee for Minor League Baseball. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House in Portland. She is a member of the Portland Community Chamber of Commerce, Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau, PROPEL, is a Junior Achievement teacher and also served as a mentor with the Goodwill Good Guides Program in Portland. Riley earned a Master's degree in Sport Management from Springfield College and a B.A. in Music from Colby College. She is originally from Saco, Maine and now resides in Portland.

The Eastern League also announced that the New Hampshire Fisher Cats are the leagues nominee for the John H. Johnson President's Award, the Bowie Baysox are nominated for the Larry MacPhail Promotional Award, and the Reading Fightin Phils are the Eastern League nomination for the John Henry Moss Community Service Award.

The Sea Dogs open the 2014 season on the road in Reading, Pennsylvania on April 3rd. The home opener is set for Thursday, April 10th at 6:00 PM against the New Britain Rock Cats. Individual tickets for the 2014 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 2nd at 9:00 AM.
