Flip-The-Switch Tree-Lighting Party Scheduled For Friday, November 22
November 21, 2013

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds are proud to host the Downtown Memphis Commission's second annual "Flip-the-Switch" tree-lighting party on Friday, November 22 at Rockeyfeller Center in AutoZone Park Plaza.

The 35-foot, artificial holiday tree will be lit promptly at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor A C Wharton, kicking off the holiday season in downtown Memphis. Tomorrow's event is free and open to the public. Rockeyfeller Center will be the backdrop for caroling, concerts, and other events throughout the upcoming holiday season.

Flip-The-Switch Tree-Lighting Party - Friday, November 22
Entertainment will approximately begin at 4:30 p.m., which includes caroling by Downtown Elementary School, live music by the Navy Band Mid-South's Holiday Brass Group, free balloons, face painting, and hot chocolate, and special guest appearances by Rockey the Redbird, Grizz, and McGruff the Crime Dog. KWAM 990's Earle Farrell Show will be broadcasted live on site from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

St. Jude Memphis Marathon - Saturday, December 7
As part of St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend presented by Juice Plus and Memphis Runners Track Club, AutoZone Park for the 12th consecutive year will host more than 20,000 runners and walkers for five races benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Lunch With Rockey Santa & Howliday Dog Parade - Saturday, December 14
Lunch consisting of sandwiches, vegetables, holiday cookies, milk, and ice cream will be served from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on the club level at AutoZone Park. The Howliday Dog Parade and caroling will round out the activities at 3:00 p.m. Lunch is priced at $12 and can only be purchased in advance by calling (901) 722-0236.

Home Alone Movie Day - Saturday, December 21
AutoZone Park will present a special free screening of the holiday classic Home Alone on the gigantic ballpark videoboard at 3:00 p.m. To add to the fun and excitement of the day, pre-screening caroling and other fun holiday activities for the kids will begin when gates open at 2:00 p.m. To ensure best viewing of the 60 by 60-foot videoboard, families and movie lovers of all ages will be seated in the lower seating bowl or on the field (weather permitting). Guests are strongly encouraged to bring a blanket when sitting on the field (no chairs are allowed). Admission is free compliments of the Downtown Memphis Commission. Concessions will be available for purchase.
