Caravan stops set for early February

Others to be added; first stop in Cynthiana

                With baseball season fast approaching, the Lexington Legends are about to hit the road. 

                The Legends' pre-season caravan has five stops set for the first two weeks of February, with others to be announced soon. The events not only generate anticipation for the 2014 season, but also allow the Legends to show appreciation to fans and media throughout the region. 

                "The Legends' caravan is a sure sign that spring and baseball are on the way," said Legends President/COO Andy Shea. "We appreciate the support of the fans, and we encourage them to come out and be part of the fun when the caravan comes to town."

            The schedule:

            AT EACH STOP, the Legends will have items to give away, and fans will also have a chance to win prizes, including tickets to the opening night game Thursday, April 3. The Legends' Big L will be available for photographs, and live radio broadcasts will originate from each location. 

            Tuesday, Feb. 4 - Cynthiana, 8-9 a.m.   Legends' staffers will be guests on the Coffee Break program on WCYN-AM, originating from Biancke's Restaurant, 102 S. Main Street. 

            Wednesday, Feb. 5 - Richmond, 2-4 p.m., Powell Building, EKU campus.   WLFX 106.7 The Dog will broadcast live. 

            Thursday, Feb. 6 - Somerset, 3:30-5:30 p.m., Josh Anderson Baseball and Softball Academy, 404 Monticello Street.   Anderson, a native of Pulaski County, a Legends Hall of Famer, former Eastern Kentucky University star and former major league player with Houston, Atlanta, Detroit and Kansas City, will be on hand.   Clear Channel Lake Cumberland, including Fox Sports 1240, the local home of Legends baseball, will provide live broadcasts.

            Wednesday, Feb. 12 - Jackson, 10 a.m. - noon, Rose Bros. Dept. Store, 695 Hwy 15 N # 1. WJSN's Sportstalk show will be broadcast live from the store. 

            Thursday, Feb. 13 - Danville, 4-6 p.m. South Town Family Restaurant, 3678 South Danville Bypass. WHIR radio will have live reports.

            The Legends, a member of the South Atlantic League and a class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will open the season at home Thursday night, April 3 against the West Virginia Power, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
