Legends promotions: 'Stache-tastic!'

Ben-Gals, 18 fireworks shows, 5 'Bark' nights in 2014

  (WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) There will be more barking, more fireworks and a night with the Cincinnati Ben-Gals in 2014, as the Lexington Legends offer fans a "stache-tastic" season at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. 

  The Legends' 70-game home schedule, which opens Thursday, April 3, will feature a wide variety of promotions and entertainment, including a July 10 visit from the Ben-Gals, the cheerleading/dance team representing the National Football League's Cincinnati Bengals. 

. The "stache-tastic" season, a reference to the Legends' familiar mustache logo, will include five Bark in the Park nights, the most ever in one season. Dog owners may bring their dogs to the Legends game for Bark in the Park nights on April 7, May 24, June 1, July 2 and August 14.

  Fireworks remains among the most popular promotions in minor league baseball, and the Legends will offer Ford fireworks shows after 18 games this year, beginning with opening night April 3. The Independence Day fireworks show will be held after the game July 3. (The Legends are on the road July 4.)

  Ford fireworks shows are also scheduled for April 19, May 9, May 17, May 30, May 31, June 13, June 14, June 27, June 28, July 11, July 12, July 25, July 26, August 8, August 9 and August 16.

  The Legends are bringing back their popular weekly promotions, which include discounts on food and beverages. Monday is Kids Eat Free night, presented by Members Heritage Federal Credit Union. Each child age 12 or under will receive a voucher good for a meal and drink. 

  Each Tuesday night will be 37-cent hot dog night, in recognition of the Ford F-150 being the number one selling truck for 37 consecutive years.

  Thursday night games will again be Kentucky Ale Thirsty Thursdays. Beer and Pepsi products may be purchased for one dollar each at every Thursday night home game, including opening night, April 3.

  Sundays are Jif Kids Club Sundays. New this season: For the first time, membership in the Jif Kids Club, which is open to children age 12 and under, is free of charge. Kids Club members receive special benefits such as discounts at the Legends Locker gift shop, a subscription to the monthly e-newsletter, a members-only batting practice, a photo opportunity in the Legends dugout and many more.   More information is available at lexingtonlegends.com.   All kids may run the bases after each Sunday home game. 

  In partnership with Gallo Barefoot, The Legends will offer five wine tasting nights. The first is scheduled for April 19.

  Popular entertainment acts are again on the schedule.   Among the highlights: On August 9, the Legends will welcome the Fur Circus (www.furcircus.com), a group of circus-themed characters who have performed at ballparks and other venues throughout the country. Jake the Diamond Dog will entertain on Bark in the Park night Saturday, May 24.
