Quakes Swept in Visalia

April 20, 2014

Visalia, CA - A season-high eight runs wasn't enough for the Quakes on Saturday night, as Visalia rallied to score the game's final seven runs, in a 9-8 win over Rancho Cucamonga at Recreation Park in Visalia.

The loss for the Quakes gives them a season-worst six straight losses, as they endure their second consecutive three-game sweep.

Visalia got a two-out RBI double from Rudy Flores in the eighth inning off of Blake Smith (0-1), snapping an eight-all tie to give them their third straight come-from-behind victory over the Quakes.

Jimmie Sherfy earned his fifth save of the year by fanning the side in the ninth.

The Quakes built their largest lead of the year, scoring four in the fourth and then adding three in the sixth, taking an 8-2 lead.

James Baldwin had another big night for Rancho, connecting for his second homer of the series in the fourth, putting Rancho up 5-1. Baldwin finished with two hits, three RBIs and a pair of runs scored to lead Rancho's ten-hit attack.

Adam Law extended his hitting streak to eight straight with a two-run double in the sixth inning, as Rancho made it 7-2. Corey Seager completed the three-run frame with an RBI double, putting the Quakes in front 8-2.

Geoff Brown pitched well in a spot-start situation, allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Rob Rogers came on and got the final out of the fifth, but struggled in the sixth inning, as Visalia tied the game at 8-8 with a six-run rally.

The Quakes (5-12) take a day off on Sunday, before heading to High Desert on Monday. Lindsey Caughel (0-1) will take on Tyler Pike in the series-opener at 7:05pm.

The Quakes return home next Friday, opening a home stand against Lancaster. Don't miss Brian Wilson BobbleBeard Giveaway on Friday, April 25th, thanks to San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000. We hope to see you very soon. Go Quakes!
