Mets spoil Augliera's return, win 5-1

Binghamton, NY - Sea Dogs starter Mike Augliera (2-2) returned to his college roots, but the Binghamton Mets spoiled the homecoming, taking the series opener 5-1 from Portland on Friday night at NYSEG Stadium. In the loss, Mookie Betts was 0-for-3 with walk, extending his on-base streak to 53 straight regular season games.

B-Mets starter Greg Peavey (1-1) made his third straight start against the Sea Dogs and his fourth overall. Peavey's only blemish was a first-inning RBI double by Travis Shaw (2-for-3, walk). Shaw knocked home Deven Marrero, who doubled with one out.

Binghamton tied the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Brian Burgamy. In the fourth, two Portland errors (one by Augliera) lead to three unearned runs, and gave the Mets the lead for good. With two on and one out, Dustin Lawley reached on a fielder's choice, but Augliera's throw to second base, sailed into center field, enabling the go-ahead run to score. Kyle Johnson followed with a run-scoring single and Wilfredo Tovar chipped in with an RBI fielder's choice. Johnson knocked in the game's final run with fielder's choice in the sixth.

Augliera was a standout at Binghamton University and made his professional debut in Binghamton, New York. The righty tossed seven innings, giving up six hits, five runs (two earned) on three walks and three strikeouts.

Peavey notched his first win of the season, yielding just six hits on two walks and four strikeouts over 6 IP.

Binghamton's bullpen closed out the win with three scoreless innings. Cody Satterwhite worked two frames with a walk and Jon Velasquez worked around two hits in the ninth.

Shannon Wilkerson had one of Portland's five doubles, and extended his on-base streak to 21 straight games. Marrero, Henry Ramos, Shaw (2 doubles) and Wilkerson had the two-baggers for Portland.
