Augusta blanks Legends 1-0

(AUGUSTA, Ga.) The Augusta GreenJackets scored a run without a hit in the sixth inning and made it stand up for a 1-0 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday afternoon.

Rando Moreno drew a leadoff walk in the sixth, and then moved to third when pitcher Luke Farrell threw past first base for an error on a pickoff attempt.

Moreno held third as Ryder Jones grounded out to second and Jeremy Sy was called out on strikes. Tyler Horan hit a fly ball near the warning track in left field, where the ball was dropped by Dominique Taylor as Moreno scored.

Jake Smith (1-1), who entered the game in the sixth, pitched three innings and got the win. Legends starter Luke Farrell (1-5) was the losing pitcher. He worked six innings, allowed two hits and the one unearned run. Farrell struck out five batters and walked two.  

Luis Castillo earned his seventh save with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Legends return to Lexington for a seven-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against Asheville. Game time Monday night is 7:05 p.m.
