Quinn Leads Threshers to Split in Twin Bill

Threshers Outfielder Drives in Five in Game Two Victory
July 18, 2014

BRADENTON -- Roman Quinn drove in five runs in game two against the Bradenton Marauders to help the Clearwater Threshers win the night cap of a doubleheader, 7-4.

Bradenton (16-9) took game one of the twin bill from Clearwater (10-16) by a 7-2 final, behind Tyler Glasnow's 5.2 inning gem.

Glasnow (6-4) allowed two unearned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking one. At one point, the Marauders' right-hander retired 15 hitters in a row.

Colin Kleven went five innings for the Threshers for the 13th consecutive start. Kleven (3-8) took the loss, allowing five runs - only one earned - on four hits and striking out five.

Freddy Galvis, Reid Brignac and Carlos Ruiz were all in the lineup in game one on rehab assignments. The trio combined to go 1-for-8 with a run scored.

Game two was a different story for Clearwater. The Threshers jumped on Bradenton starter Jason Creasy for four runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead.

Quinn broke an 0-for-23 slump with big hits in each inning, driving in two runs on a double in the third and clearing the bases with a three-run triple in the fourth. Quinn's five RBI night set a new season-high for a single-game RBI total by a Thresher in 2014.

In addition to Quinn's breakout night, Harold Martinez and Angelo Mora each added 2-for-3 nights at the plate. Martinez and Mora combined to score three runs.

Jeb Stefan tossed five innings and surrendered four runs on six hits, while striking out four and walking two. Stefan (6-8) gave way to Cody Forsythe in the sixth inning and the left-hander sat down the Marauders 1-2-3.

Ulises Joaquin earned his first save as a Thresher, tossing a scoreless seventh inning.

Game three of the four game series is on Friday at McKechnie Field, and first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Miguel Nunez gets the call for Clearwater, while Shane Carle toes the rubber for Bradenton. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on threshersbaseball.com
