Legends announce 2015 schedule

September 17, 2014

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.)   The 15th season of Lexington Legends baseball will open in April of 2015.

The first of 70 home games will be played Thursday, April 16 when the Legends, class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will take on the West Virginia Power at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The home opener will be the first game of a seven-game homestand that runs from April 16-22.

The 2015 schedule features 10 home games in April, 15 in May, 10 in June, 16 in July, 14 in August and five in September. The schedule includes 10 full weekends, when the Legends will be at home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Popular promotions such as Thirsty Thursdays, education days, fireworks nights, military appreciation, special nights for charitable organizations and many others will be part of Legends baseball in 2015, as will some of the top entertainment acts on the minor league circuit.

Game times and the complete promotions schedule will be announced later.

"It's nice to get a few teams back in Lexington next year like the Hickory Crawdads, the Texas Rangers affiliate, and Kannapolis Intimidators, the Chicago White Sox affiliate," said Legends Director of Ticket Operations David Barry. "The Legends saw an increase in attendance in 2014, and we look to build on that for the 15th season."

Kannapolis will visit Lexington May 10-12, and Hickory will visit Lexington July 25-28. Neither team was on the Legends' home schedule in 2014. Among other teams to play at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in 2015 are the Greenville Drive, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox; the Charleston RiverDogs, an affiliate of the New York Yankees; and the Rome Braves, an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. In all, 12 South Atlantic League rivals will visit Whitaker Bank Ballpark for at least one series.

The Legends offer a variety of season ticket plans, which are on sale now. Company and group outings may be booked now as well. Individual game tickets will be available for sale in March. For more information, call the Legends box office at (859) 422-7867 or visit www.lexingtonlegends.com.
