Tides announce Opening Day roster

Johnson set to lead club for fourth consecutive season

The Norfolk Tides and their parent club, the Baltimore Orioles, have announced the Tides Opening Day roster for the 2015 season. The roster features 12 pitchers and 13 position players, and the team will once again be managed by Ron Johnson. Joining Johnson are Pitching Coach Mike Griffin, Hitting Coach Sean Berry, Field Coach Jose Hernandez, Athletic Trainer Mark Shires and Strength and Conditioning Coach Trevor Howell.

Norfolk's pitching staff will consist of starters Tyler Wilson (slated to take the mound in tonight's opener at Charlotte), Mike Wright, T.J. McFarland, Zach Davies and Eddie Gamboa. Norfolk's relievers include Michael Bowden, Oliver Drake, Steve Johnson, Chris Jones, Patrick McCoy, Daniel Rodriguez and Chaz Roe.

The Tides Opening Day roster features six infielders: Michael Almanzar, Paul Janish, Jayson Nix, Chris Parmelee, Garabez Rosa and Christian Walker. Manning the outfield for Norfolk will be Dariel Alvarez, Julio Borbon, Nolan Reimold and Henry Urrutia. The Tides will open the season with two catchers: Steve Clevenger and Audry Perez.

Three players will open the season on Norfolk's disabled list: Pitcher Dane De La Rosa, infielder Rey Navarro and catcher Zach Booker

The Tides open their 2015 campaign tonight on the road against the Charlotte Knights, with first pitch from BB&T Ballpark slated for 7:05 pm. The game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 94.1 and watched live on MiLB.tv.

Norfolk opens the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, April 18 with a 7:05 contest against division rival Durham. The first 10,000 fans will receive a 2015 schedule magnet, courtesy of John's Tax Service. Individual game tickets, season tickets and group tickets are currently available for the 2015 season.
