J.J. Fernandez activated from 7-day DL

Zack Granite promoted to Fort Myers

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that catcher J.J. Fernandez has been activated from they 7-day disabled list and that OF Zack Granite has been promoted to Fort Myers of the Florida State League. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Fernandez went on the DL back on April 19th with a concussion. He is batting .293 with three doubles and four RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 7th round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Colegio Hector Urdaneta HS in Puerto Rico.

Granite was a member of the Kernels 2015 Opening Day roster and was batting .358 with five doubles, seven stolen bases and five RBI in 19 games for the Kernels.

Fernandez is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game against the Clinton LumberKings. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with seven players currently on the DL and one player on the restricted list.

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium tonight to open a three game series against the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The current home stand continues through Sunday, May 3rd.
