SAN JOSE, CA - The Lake Elsinore Storm recorded their fifth-consecutive win Thursday night, sweeping the San Jose Giants with a 5-3 triumph at Municipal Stadium.

The Giants took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Lake Elsinore took the lead for good in the third. Jose Rondon singled to start the inning and stole second base two batters later. Fernando Perez singled him home to tie the game. After a wild pitch sent Perez to second base, Nick Schulz singled to put runners on the corners. Marcus Davis walked to load the bases, and Gabriel Quintana gave The Eyes a 2-1 lead on a fielder's choice.

A three-spot in the top of the fourth increased the Storm advantage. Back-to-back-to-back singles from Adolfo Reina, River Stevens and Rondon (complemented by a throwing error from catcher Ty Ross) plated two to make it 4-1. Perez collected his second RBI of the game with another single two batters later to put Lake Elsinore up 5-1.

Storm starter Zech Lemond (W, 2-1) was lights out after allowing a first inning score. The Houston native scattered six hits over 5.2 innings of work. Lemond struck out four and walked two in that span.

San Jose scored single runs in the seventh and ninth, but a triumvirate of Walker Weickel, Sam Holland (H, 4) and Matt Shepherd (S, 2) pitched well enough to preserve the Storm lead and secure the 5-3 victory.

Rondon and Perez paced the offense, going 3 for 5 with two runs scored and 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI, respectively.

With the win, Lake Elsinore (15-13) has now won five-straight contests dating back to May 3. The Eyes improve to 6-1 in May after starting the season 9-12.

The road trip continues Friday in Lancaster as the Storm visit the JetHawks for the first time this season. Ronald Herrera (2-2, 4.18 ERA) will take the hill for Lake Elsinore. Lancaster has yet to announce their starter. First pitch is set for 6:30pm.
