Yadiel Rivera Promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs

Rivera batted .322 in 32 games for the Shuckers this season

JACKSON, TN - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that affect the Biloxi Shuckers roster prior to today's 7:05 p.m. game four of the series against the Jackson Generals at the Ballpark at Jackson.

  • Yadiel Rivera, INF, Transferred to Triple-A Colorado Springs from Biloxi
  • Tyler LaTorre, C, Transferred to Biloxi from Rookie-Helena's roster

Rivera, 23, becomes the first member of the inaugural Biloxi Shuckers' 25-man roster to be promoted to Triple-A Colorado Springs. In 32 games for Biloxi, the Puerto Rico native batted .322 (37x115) with eight doubles, two triples, a home run, 13 RBIs and eight stolen bases. Rivera posted a .322/.366/.452 slash line this season. Rivera's batting average ranks eighth currently in the Southern League. Among Brewers farmhands, Rivera ranks second in average (to Orlando Arcia, .361) and tied for fourth in stolen bases.

Rivera, Milwaukee's ninth round selection in 2010 opened his 2015 season by reaching base safely in 19-straight games. During that franchise-best stretch he batted .369 with a .414 on-base percentage. Rivera has also put together a Shuckers' season-long 11-game hitting streak from April 11-23 in which he hit .385.

Rivera is ranked by Baseball America as the Brewers No. 13 prospect as well as the top defensive infielder. A member of the Brewers' 40-man roster, Rivera batted a combined .258 with five home runs, 30 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 124 games between Advanced-A Brevard County and Double-A Huntsville in 2014.

LaTorre, 32, has been transferred from the Rookie-Helena roster to Biloxi's active roster. LaTorre has appeared in 11 games for the Shuckers this season batting .200 (2x10) with a double and .385 on-base percentage. The Santa Cruz, CA native has been the most often used pinch-hitter going 1-for-8 with a double and run scored in that role. LaTorre began the 2015 campaign on Helena's roster and was activated on April 18th, when Josh Fellhauer was placed on the temporary inactive list.

The Shuckers are at the league-maximum of 25 players; plus two on the temporary inactive list.
