Legends O'Hearn wins HR Derby

Lexington Legends first baseman Ryan O'Hearn won the South Atlantic League Home Run Derby Tuesday night at McCormick Field in Asheville, North Carolina.   O'Hearn advanced through three rounds of competition to claim top honors, and defeated Rhys Hoskins of the Lakewood BlueClaws 3-1 in the final round. Batters had 10 swings per round. O'Hearn hit a total of nine home runs in the competition.

The Home Run Derby was part of the pre-game activity before the SAL All-Star game, which was won by the Northern Division over the Southern Division, 7-5.

O'Hearn leads the South Atlantic League in home runs with 16. 

The Legends begin the second half of the season Thursday night when they open a five-game series in Savannah. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Legends road trip will continue with a four-game series in Rome June 30-July 3, and they will return home for a nine-game homestand at Whitaker Bank Ballpark beginning July 4.
