Comebacks fall 1 run short for AquaSox

EVERETT, Wash. - In contention for a win the whole way, the Everett AquaSox fell just short of a win when Boise scored the winning run in the top of the ninth to take an 11-10 win over the Frogs on Friday, June 26, at Everett Memorial Stadium. The AquaSox fall to 7-2 on the year as the Hawks' Kevin Padlo drove in six runs on 3-for-5 hitting with two doubles and a homer.

Come by Everett Memorial Stadium for a 6:05 p.m. start on Saturday, June 27, for Mariners Tribute Night, featuring a special appearance by former Mariner Jeff Nelson. The first 500 kids get a special Mariners giveaway, so you won't want to miss out. Tickets are still available online at aquasox.com or at the front office at 3802 Broadway in Everett.

Boise led throughout almost the entire game, even as Everett clawed back time after time.

Trailing 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth, the AquaSox rallied in make it close. Yojhan Quevedo scored on a groundout by Logan Taylor, and Ryan Uhl was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Corey Simpson. Yordi Calderon drove in two runs with a line-drive single to center, and the Frogs moved to within one at 7-6.

Behind 8-6 in the seventh, the Frogs drew even when Luis Liberato and Simpson scored on a groundout and an error. They would pull back even in the eighth with another two runs after Boise scored two in the top of the inning.

Liberato finished 3 for 5 with a triple and an RBI. Simpson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
