Pompey Has Three Hits In Marathon

Fisher Cats See Win Streak Snapped In 3-2, 13-Inning Loss

TRENTON, NJ - Dalton Pompey had three hits and scored two runs, but the Fisher Cats dropped a 3-2 decision in Trenton on Monday night, a game which wasn't decided until the bottom of the 13th.

Trenton's Jose Rosario (3-for-5) doubled off reliever Jimmy Cordero (0-1) to start the inning, moved to third on a bunt single by Danny Oh, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jake Cave. The win snapped the Fisher Cats win streak at four games.

Connor Mullee (2-1) worked four innings of scoreless relief to earn the win for Trenton (41-35).

For the second consecutive game, New Hampshire loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first inning. Ryan Schimpf's sacrifice fly plated Pompey, who had singled, for a 1-0 lead.

Trenton tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning. Cave singled, moved to second on a groundout, and scored on a double by catcher Gary Sanchez.

Thunder first baseman Greg Bird ripped a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 2-1.

New Hampshire (35-39) drew even in the top of the eighth inning. Pompey tripled and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2.

Fisher Cats starter Taylor Cole allowed two runs over 6.1 innings, matching his a seasons-best with seven strikeouts. New Hampshire also received scoreless relief from Dustin Antolin (1.0 IP), Colt Hines (0.2 IP), Scott Barnes (1.1 IP) and Wil Browning (2.2 IP).

The Fisher Cats will open a four-game series at Hadlock Field on Tuesday against the Portland Sea Dogs.
