July 1, 2015

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers lost a seven-run lead at the Hangar on Tuesday night but finished with a 9-8 win over the Lancaster JetHawks to break a three-game losing-skid. Kody Eaves delivered a two-run single in the top of the ninth for the Sixers who improved to 5-4 on the season versus the Houston Astros California League affiliate.

The 66ers sent ten men to the plate in a six-run second inning versus JetHawks starter Troy Scribner. Andrew Daniel, in his Cal League debut, doubled on the first pitch he saw and was driven home by Roberto Baldoquin's RBI single. Ruben Sosa, a former JetHawk player doubled in two runs in the frame and Eric Aguilera would cap the scoring with a bases loaded double that scored three. Caleb Adams made it 7-0 in the third inning for Inland Empire (36-38, 2-3) when he drilled his first Cal League homer over the right field wall.

Scribner settled in and tossed three more scoreless after the onslaught. Ryan Etsell gave up two runs for Inland Empire in his first start since coming off the disabled list prior to the game. He went four frames. The JetHawks chipped away at Inland Empire's lead and tied the game 7-7 in the eighth when James Ramsey lined a RBI single to left off Michael Smith. Smith would strand the potential go-ahead runner at third base.

In the top of the ninth Aguilera walked with one out and was pushed to third when Daniel doubled to right field. Daniel finished 3-for-5 on the game. Kody Eaves then knocked a two-run single up the middle off southpaw Reymin Guduan (0-3) to give the Sixers a 9-8 advantage.

Chase McDonald, who had doubled for Lancaster (40-35, 3-2) in the sixth, hit a solo shot off IE closer Geoff Broussard in the bottom of the ninth but the righty got Redlands native Jacob Nottingham to hit into the final out on a hot shot to Daniel at third base and earned his fourth save in as many chances. Smith earned the win and improved to 6-0 on the year.
