Three Rainiers Named To Triple-A All-Star Game

Montero, Marte, and Snow to represent PCL in Omaha, NE
July 1, 2015

TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Tacoma Rainiers infielders Jesus Montero and Ketel Marte, along with right-handed pitcher Forrest Snow will represent the PCL in the First National Bank Triple-A All-Star Game. The contest will be held at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. CST and will be televised on MLB Network.

Montero, 25, was elected to start at first base after hitting .314 with a PCL-leading 97 hits. The Venezuelan native ranks in the top five in four other PCL leaderboards, including games (T-1st, 76), at bats (1st, 309), RBI (3rd, 60), and total bases (2nd, 151).

Against New Orleans on June 2, Montero collected four hits, including his first grand slam home run in over five years - Montero's six RBI in the contest tied a single-game career high. He has 28 multi-hit games this season, and has sent out two home runs in a single game twice. Montero is in his third season with the Rainiers after being acquired along with right-hander Hector Noesi from the New York Yankees in exchange for right-handed pitchers Michael Pineda and Jose Campos on January 20, 2012.

Marte, a 21-year-old Dominican native, was elected to get the starting nod at shortstop after hitting .343 with 10 doubles, 24 RBI, and 17 stolen bases - his .343 batting average is currently the third best mark in the PCL. This season marks Marte's second career Triple-A stint after being signed as an international free agent on August 13, 2010.

From April 24 - May 9, Marte strung together a career-high 15-game hitting streak. During the streak he hit .422 (27x64) with 11 runs, three doubles, seven RBI, and seven stolen bases. The 15-game streak is tied for the fourth longest in the league this season.

Snow, 26, has put together a 2.34 ERA (18ERx69.1IP) that is currently the third best mark in the PCL. The Seattle, Washington native was selected as a reserve player after posting a single-season career-high six wins in the first half.

After beginning the season in the Rainiers bullpen, Snow was moved into the starting rotation full-time on May 8. In 10 games as a starter this season, Snow has gone 4-3 with a 2.09 ERA (12ERx52.1IP). The tall righty is in his fourth season with Tacoma after being selected by Seattle in the 36th round of the 2010 draft.

This marks the second consecutive season that multiple Rainiers players will start for the PCL in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Infielders Chris Taylor, Nick Franklin, and Gabriel Noriega started for the PCL in 2014 and were joined by right-handed pitcher Logan Kensing.
