Hudson Valley Shutout by Brooklyn

Wappingers Falls, NY (7/1/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 7-0 Wednesday evening at Dutchess Stadium. Hudson Valley drops to 6-6 on the season while Brooklyn improves to 8-4.

The Cyclones picked up two runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI walk by designated hitter Michael Katz and an RBI single by left fielder Jeff Diehl. Brooklyn extended that lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning on an RBI sacrifice fly by third baseman David Thompson. With one out recorded in the top of the fourth inning, that ended the night for Renegades starter Greg Maisto (0-2), who in the loss, allowed three runs and one earned run in three and a thirds innings.

Brooklyn added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning as a run scored on a Thompson single and a throwing error and the Cyclones made the score 6-0 in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run home run by catcher Nata Ramos. It became 7-0 in the top of the ninth inning as pinch hitter Pedro Perez hit a solo home run off of reliever Luis Urena.

Hudson Valley would pick up just two hits on the night, one being a Nic Wilson single in the bottom of the third inning and a double by Manny Sanchez in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Brooklyn's starter Tyler Badamo (1-1) tossed seven shutout innings for the Cyclones, only allowing the hit to Wilson in the third innings and walking none while striking out four batters.

Notes: While Cade Gotta saw his seven-game hit streak end on Wednesday evening, Manny Sanchez improved his hit streak to six games with his double in the eighth inning. Sanchez has hit safely in seven of the eight games he has appeared in this season for the Renegades and during this six-game hit streak, Sanchez is hitting .363 (8-22) with a home run and two RBI

Hudson Valley travels to Brooklyn on Thursday evening with first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm. The two teams will return to Dutchess Stadium on Friday, July 3 for the finale of the three-game series, with first pitch set for 7:05pm. Friday evening is "Civil War Night" presented by Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union at Dutchess Stadium.
