Colorado Springs Clips Rainiers, 5-2

Series finale with Sky Sox set for 5:05 p.m. tomorrow

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Tacoma Rainiers let a late lead slip away in a 5-2 loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field on Friday night.

The Rainiers broke open six scoreless frames with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning. Both Leury Bonilla and John Hicks scored on a missed catch error committed by first baseman Matt Clark with two outs to give the Rainiers a 2-0 advantage.

The lead lasted until the bottom of the inning, when the Sky Sox answered with four runs. Juan Centeno's RBI double put Colorado Springs within one run before Matt Dominguez hit a go-ahead two-run triple. Matt Long rounded out the frame with a sacrifice fly that plated Dominguez.

Reliever Logan Bawcom (2-3) was dealt the loss after surrendering two runs on two hits in the seventh inning. Starter Tyler Olson was left with a no decision after surrendering two runs on two hits through 6.0 innings. The left-hander walked two and fanned three in his third start with Tacoma this season.

The Rainiers (59-68) play the final game of a four-game series at Colorado Springs (53-73) tomorrow, August 22. Right-hander Forrest Snow (8-8, 3.91) is slated to start for Tacoma against Sky Sox right-hander Zach Davies (1-0, 5.40). First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
