Osprey Major League Alumni Report - Aug. 16-22

Parra, Montero, Gonzalez, Owings, and Shaw highlight Osprey Major League alumni.

MISSOULA, Mont. - Of the 53 Osprey to reach the Major Leagues, alumni Gerardo Parra (2006), Miguel Montero (2002-03), Carlos Gonzalez (2003), Chris Owings (2009), and Bryan Shaw (2008) highlighted the week of Aug. 16-22.

Gerardo Parra (2006), Outfield, Baltimore

Gerardo Parra started the week strong. On Aug. 16, the lefty went 5-for-6 and was just a triple away from the cycle. He collected three RBI and crossed the plate three times. On the week, he went 10-for-30 with three home runs, five runs scored, and eight RBI.

Miguel Montero (2002-03), Catcher, Chicago Cubs

Osprey alum Miguel Montero went 7-for-20 at the plate. He collected four doubles, one home run, and four RBI. Entering Monday's game, Montero is hitting .239 with nine doubles, 13 home runs, and 41 RBI on the season.

Carlos Gonzalez (2003), Outfield, Colorado

Gonzalez went 7-for-21 at the plate with three home runs, four RBI, three walks, and one double. On the season, Gonzalez is hitting .273. He is tied for first on the team in home runs (30) with Nolan Arenado, ranks second in RBI (71) and walks (38), and ranks third in doubles (21). Among all Major League outfielders, the former Osprey ranks fifth in home runs (30) and slugging percentage (.544), ranks sixth in OPS (.877), and ranks 10th in RBI (71).

Chris Owings (2009), Second Base, Arizona

Former Osprey Chris Owings went 10-for-26 on the week. He collected two doubles, one home run, three RBI, one stolen base, and one walk. Owings led the D-backs to a 5-4 victory over the Reds on Aug. 20 with a 3-for-4 effort, one double, one home run, and two RBI. On the season among all Major League second basemen, Owings ranks tied fifth in stolen bases (14) and tied for seventh in triples (4).

Bryan Shaw (2008), Pitcher, Cleveland

On the week, Shaw made three appearances and pitched 2.1 innings. The righty went 1-0 with two strikeouts, allowed just one hit, and did not allow a run. In 54 games this season, Shaw is 2-2 with a 2.56 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 45.2 innings.

The Osprey will conclude a four-game road series at Billings tonight. Following tonight's game, Missoula will head home to host Helena for a pair starting tomorrow night.
