Stults, Drillers hault Travs winning streak

Arkansas sits four games ahead of the Springfield Cardinals with 11 games remaining in the second half.

North Little Rock, AR - The Tulsa Drillers snapped the Arkansas Travelers seven-game winning streak with a 3-1 victory on Thursday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Arkansas scored a run in the first inning but Tulsa plated three straight in the fourth, sixth and ninth.

LHP Eric Stults (W, 4-4) tossed seven innings and allowed the run on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

The Drillers used six relievers over the final two innings.

RHP Kyle McGowin (L, 8-8) was strong in the loss. He also worked seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts. The loss for McGowin was his first since July 3 (10 starts).

Travs LF Ruben Sosa led off the game with a single to extend his hit streak to 15 straight games, the longest active streak in the Texas League. Sosa also scored the lone run, his 14th run over the 15-game hitting streak.

No Travs player produced a multi-hit game.

1B Lars Anderson homered for Tulsa, his 14th of the season.

With the loss, Arkansas remains four games ahead of the Springfield Cardinals in Texas League North second half standings with 11 games remaining.

The Travelers and Drillers will conclude the four-game series on Friday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
