AquaSox fall 9-3 in rain-shortened game

Alex Jackson drives in Everett's runs on 2 home runs
August 30, 2015

EVERETT, Wash. - Alex Jackson hit a pair of home runs and drove in every AquaSox run in a 9-3 loss to Tri-City in a rain-shortened, 5 1/2-inning game on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first with Erick Mejia on first base, Jackson took a first-pitch fastball to left-center field over the AquaSox video board. That put Everett up 2-1, but a 32-minute rain delay in the bottom of the second killed the Frogs' momentum.

Tri-City touched the AquaSox pitchers for five runs in the fourth and two in the fifth before Jackson homered to right field, over the manual scoreboard to make it 8-3. Carlos Belen homered for the Dust Devils in the sixth before the game was called.

Everett falls to 18-13 in the second half, but still hold a four-game lead on Vancouver with the Canadians' 1-0 loss in 12 innings to Spokane. Tri-City also sits four games behind the AquaSox, but has already qualified for the playoffs with a first-half title.

The final home game of the regular season, and final game of this three-game series is still scheduled to be played at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Everett Memorial Stadium. Fans can check aquasox.com and the AquaSox Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on rain delays or suspensions.

The first 750 fans on Sunday will receive a Baseball Card Giveaway, presented by Frontier Communications. Fans can also bid on game-worn Aquaflauge jerseys and the winners will receive their jersey directly off the player's back. Tickets are available online at aquasox.com/tickets and in the front office at 3802 Broadway in Everett.
