Hooks' Reed TL Player of the Week

Tops MiLB in Home Runs, Runs, RBIs
August 31, 2015

SAN ANTONIO - Corpus Christi Hooks first baseman A.J. Reed is the Texas League Player of the Week for the period of August 24-30, president Tom Kayser announced Monday.

Reed went 12-for-24 (.500) with two doubles, three home runs, and seven runs batted in as the Hooks went 4-2 vs. Midland and San Antonio. He collected four multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance in the series finale at Midland Friday, a 17-6 Corpus Christi triumph. The former Kentucky Wildcat scored four runs during that contest, then homered twice Saturday at Whataburger Field in an 8-6 victory over the Missions.

Reed, a 2014 second-round selection of the Astros, was named 2015 California League Player of the Year last week. The former SEC Player of the Year and Golden Spikes Award winner tops all of Minor League Baseball with 33 home runs, 119 RBIs, and 108 runs scored.

Reed enters tonight's series finale vs. San Antonio on a nine-game hitting streak (16-for-37/.432).

Frisco's Chad Bell is the TL Pitcher of the Week.
