Fightin Phils Magic Number at One

With their win over Bowie and Trenton's loss to Altoona on Sunday, the Reading Fightin Phils magic number is down to one. The Fightins could clinch a playoff spot in the Eastern League Playoffs by winning tonight's game over the Binghamton Mets or with a loss by Trenton to New Britain.

Acquired by the Phillies from the Texas Rangers for 2005 alum Cole Hamels, Jake Thompson will get the call at 6:35 p.m. tonight against New York Mets starter Steve Matz, who will be rehabbing for Binghamton tonight. In five starts with the Fightins,  Thompson is 3-1 with a 1.97 ERA over 32.0 innings.
