Hartford Continues its Winning Ways

PORTLAND, ME- The first place Hartford Yard Goats continued their winning ways Friday night at Hadlock Field, scratching out a 2-0 victory against the Portland Sea Dogs. before an announced crowd of 2,416. Hartford was the home team as the game was originally slated for the still-to-be-completed Dunkin Donuts' Park. Hartford is off to an 11-4 start and leads the Eastern League's East Division.

Berlin's Matt Carasiti came on to record a four-out save, his fifth save in sixth outings. The Colorado Rockies' 6th round draft choice in 2012, gave up back-to-back singles to start the ninth inning, but settled down to strike out Ramimel Rosario looking and get Tim Roberson to ground into a 4-6-3 doubleplay. It was the fourth doubleplay turned by the Yard Goats in the game.

Carasiti's stellar outing - he entered the game and got Bryce Brentz to foul out with two men on base in the 8th inning - saved the win for Harrison Musgrave. It was his second win over Portland in six days. Musgrave pitched 61/3 scoreless innings and allowed four hits against the Red Sox Double-A farm club.

The Yard Goats managed just two hits, both coming in the fifth inning, when they scored their only runs on one play. With one out, Correll Prime singled to right and stole second base. He then stole third base with two outs. Following a David Dahl walk, Raimel Tapia knocked in Prime with a single to left, then forced third baseman Jordan Betts to make an errant throw into right field, enabling Dahl to score the second run.

Hartford continues its series Saturday afternoon at 1:00 with a doubleheader at Portland. The Yard Goats will be the home team in both games. Hartford will pitch LHP Kyle Freeland and RHP Zach Jemiola. Portland is still undecided about its first game pitcher but RHP Heri Quevedo will pitch in the second contest. Both games will be broadcast on News Radio 1410, WPOP.
