Calhoun's three-run blast sinks Travs

Tulsa, OK - The Arkansas Travelers dropped their third straight game on Monday, a 4-3 loss in the series-opener to the Tulsa Drillers at ONEOK Field.

With the game tied 1-1 in the fourth, Drillers 2B Willie Calhoun launched a three-run home run on a 3-2 pitch with two outs to put Tulsa up 4-1.

Arkansas countered with two in the top of the fifth, but the threat ended when Travs LF Bo Way was thrown out at the plate on a potential sacrifice fly as the tying run.

Travs starter RHP Victor Alcantara (L, 1-2) was pulled in the fourth inning for LHP Tyler DeLoach. DeLoach tossed 3.1 scoreless innings out of the 'pen and allowed four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Austin Wood worked a 1-2-3 eighth for Arkansas.

The two teams combined to walk 12 batters in the game, including six for Tulsa starter RHP Chris Anderson (W, 2-1) who worked five innings.

RHP Rob Rogers, LHP Jordan Schafer and RHP Caleb Dirks combined to throw four scoreless innings of relief for the Drillers.

Travs 2B Alex Yarbrough reached base three times with two walks and a single, and Way finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

With the loss, Arkansas fell to 7-10 on the season. The two teams are scheduled to play game two of the four-game set on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
