Homestand: Discounts, dogs, fireworks and more

    Half-price pizza, discounts on beer and soft drinks, and a fireworks show will be part of a three-game homestand for the Lexington Legends this week.

                The Legends, class A affiliate of the World Series champion Kansas City Royals, will play the Delmarva Shorebirds, an affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

                The schedule and promotions:

                Wednesday, May 4:   Legends vs. Delmarva, 12:35 p.m.   Fan can enjoy weekday afternoon baseball with the Businessperson Special. Hunt Brothers Pizza will sell for half price.

                Thursday, May 5: Legends vs. Delmarva, 7:05 p.m.   It's a Kentucky Ale Thirsty Thursday, and beer and Pepsi products will be on sale for one dollar each. And every Thursday is a Pepsi Bark in the Park Night. Fans can bring their dogs to the game, and a two-dollar donation at the gate for each dog will benefit a local animal shelter.

                Friday, May 6:  Legends vs. Delmarva, 7:05 p.m. A fireworks show will follow the game, and the Legends will welcome Girl Scouts from central Kentucky to the ballpark for an overnight campout on the field.

                "It's not a long homestand, but it has a lot to offer for our fans," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea. "We're looking forward to an exciting three days at Whitaker Bank Ballpark."
