Offensive production continues in Storm win

Bats back Dorminy's solid showing as The Eyes defeat IE 9-3
May 12, 2016

LAKE ELSINORE - Winning ways continued for the Lake Elsinore Storm Wednesday night, as the San Diego Padres affiliate took down the Inland Empire 66ers 9-3 at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore for their third-consecutive win.

The scoring started in the first. With two on and one out, Franmil Reyes lined a single to right field to plate the game's first run and make it 1-0 Storm.

A three-run second increased Lake Elsinore's advantage. The first four batters of the frame went line out, hit by pitch, fly out and walk, setting the scene for top prospect Javier Guerra. The Storm shortstop belted a two strike pitch beyond the 36-foot high wall in right field for his fourth homer of the season, a three-run blast that made it 4-0 after two.

Thomas Dorminy (W, 1-4) took it from there. The Tampa, FL native turned in his best outing of the season by allowing just one run over six innings pitched. He walked one and struck out one as well.

Lake Elsinore would hang a five-spot in the fourth. Three-straight singles loaded the bases and a fielder's choice scored the first run of the frame. Franchy Cordero followed with a two-RBI triple then scored after a pitching change when Reyes doubled him home. Reyes would come around on two wild pitches and the Storm led 9-0.

Inland Empire would score a run in the fifth and two in the seventh, but Brad Wieck and Kyle McGrath prevented a comeback with a scoreless inning apiece to solidify a 9-3 Storm triumph.
