AquaSox Announce No Nuts Zone for 3 Games in 2016

No, this isn't about a Frank & Webbly-free location
May 17, 2016

The AquaSox are proud to partner with PlasmaLab in creating the first AquaSox No Nuts Zone seating section at three games this summer. Why? Because nuts are one of the most common food allergies in children and adults. People with life-threatening allergies can have severe, potentially fatal reactions and often carry an auto-injector at all times.

The Everett AquaSox and PlasmaLab are hoping the new No Nuts Zone initiative will help raise awareness and support for those suffering with anaphylaxis or severe allergies. A severe nut or food allergy often prohibits families and individuals from enjoying restaurants, poses dangers at work or school and more importantly can even keep them from attending baseball games! These seating sections will be open to the public with priority given to those families and individuals with allergies, providing a safe place to enjoy the game without compromising their health or game experience.

There are a limited number of seats available for each game so get your tickets early and enjoy a great night at the ballpark. Check Availability: July 9th July 28th August 28th Please select sections 5,6,7 or 8.

Highlights

  • No nuts will be allowed in the third base section of general admission seats during these games - signage will be present to alert other fans of the situation.
  • For the least nut-exposed path to your ticketed area, please enter Everett Memorial Stadium through the north gate and walk east to the bleachers located directly to your left. (This is the entrance located closest to the AquaSox front office at 3802 Broadway).
  • Roaming "Hawkers" will not be selling peanuts in this section for these three games.
  • Seating area will be cleaned prior to these games, however, fans should note that peanut-controlled does not mean peanut-free. Everett Memorial Stadium is an open-air ballpark, and peanuts will be present in other areas of the ballpark. While we will make reasonable efforts to post signs restricting peanut products from this section and clean in advance, we cannot guarantee the absence of peanut particles or residue. Fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places.

Who is PlasmaLab?

Don't feel bad, that's the exact question we asked too, and the official answer had us searching for our old college-level biology textbooks. PlasmaLab International, located in Everett WA, is an integral part of the biomedical community providing high quality disease-state plasma to research and diagnostic laboratories worldwide to improve diagnosis and care of people suffering from allergic or autoimmune diseases.

Kay Hill, PlasmaLab CEO helped clear it up a bit for those of us who didn't graduate with a science degree (our entire front office) and explained "Our donor's plasma travels the world working to advance medical research and save lives for those suffering with life-threatening allergies or autoimmune conditions".

How Can You Help?

PlasmaLab is currently seeking highly allergic or autoimmune disease patients to participate in their Plasma Donor Programs supporting medical research projects worldwide.

Donor Programs - Currently Recruiting:

  • Seasonal Allergies (Pollen, mold, animal, environmental allergies)
  • Severe Food Allergies
  • Severe generalized atopic dermatitis (eczema)
  • Autoimmune Conditions
  • Red Cell Antibodies

The Benefits of Donating

In our opinion, singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" shouldn't elicit fear when you get to the "Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks" line. We hope the research they support will eventually eliminate that fear for severe allergen sufferers. But Kay Hill also made a compelling argument when she explained "We have donors that have been donating for over 20 years. Friendships have formed throughout the years, it's a supportive place where people suffering from the same conditions can feel safe, supported and understood while helping others through plasma donation."

Financial support is also a meaningful benefit. Donor's often have large medical expenses or can't work full time. PlasmaLab is known for their generous compensation for their programs along with helping to advance medical research.

  • Severe Seasonal Allergy participants (pollen, ragweed, trees, grass, mold, etc.). $185 paid per qualified donation.
  • Severe EGG or Food Allergic participants (egg, dairy, meats, soy, shellfish, peanut, tree nuts, etc.). $200 paid per qualified donation.
  • People with a current case of Mononucleosis (must be within the first month of diagnosis). $300 paid per qualified donation.

All plasma donations are performed at their FDA-regulated and licensed medical facility in Everett, WA. Donors must be 18 and older, weigh at least 110 lbs, healthy enough to donate plasma, and qualify for their program.
