Pullin Homers in DH Split

Andrew Pullin went yard and Ranfi Casimiro delivered a strong outing in game two on Wednesday, as the Clearwater Threshers salvaged a doubleheader split against the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field, falling 3-0 before knocking off the Mets, 4-2.

The double dip was the second for the Threshers this week. Clearwater also earned a split of a twin bill with the Tampa Yankees on Sunday.

After the Threshers suffered a shutout in game one, Casimiro (5-2) held the Mets to only a run on three hits in the day's second contest, retiring the final nine men he faced in order.

The Threshers (26-14) were limited to just three hits in the morning contest, as Mets starter Ricky Knapp (4-2) did not permit a hit until the fifth inning when Zach Green doubled to center with one out.

Green collected two of the Threshers three hits, adding a single in the seventh. Mitch Walding followed with a single to left to bring the tying run to the plate with two outs, but Knapp got Chace Numata to line out to left to end the game.

Matt Imhof (4-2) took the loss despite a solid start, as he held the Mets (21-18) to two runs on four hits and three walks in his five innings.

Pullin wasted no time getting Clearwater on the board in game two.

After Carlos Tocci walked with one out, Pullin smacked a two-run homer to right-center to put the Threshers ahead in the opening half inning. The long ball was Pullin's second of the season.

The Mets grabbed one back in the bottom half against Casimiro, but Clearwater added another pair in the second.

Numata led off with a walk, and Cord Sandberg laid down a bunt single. Derek Campbell's bunt sacrificed both of them into scoring position before Malquin Canelo walked to load the bases.

With Tocci at the plate, Scarlyn Reyes unleashed a wild pitch that allowed Numata to cross the plate. Tocci then pulled a grounder to shortstop that resulted in a fielder's choice, but permitted Sandberg to cross the plate and make it 4-1 Threshers.

Jesen Therrien allowed an unearned run in the seventh, collecting the final three outs to earn his third save.

The series wraps up on Thursday, as the Threshers go for the series win at 6:30 p.m. Elniery Garcia (3-1) will take the hill in the series finale.
