1-0 Win Caps Pitcher-Perfect, 5-2 Homestand

(Pawtucket, RI) - The Pawtucket Red Sox used more dominant pitching to wrap up a 5-2 homestand and a series win over the Louisville Bats, as Aaron Wilkerson, Robby Scott and Noe Ramirez tossed a four-hit shutout for a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in front of 8,703 fans at McCoy Stadium.

The PawSox pitching staff allowed 10 total runs on the seven-game homestand against the Mud Hens and Bats (32-31), improving the team's ERA to 1.66 in the month of June.

"Our pitching has been terrific and it all starts with the length we've gotten out of our starters," said manager Kevin Boles. "The whole staff has been effective commanding the zone and I thought our defense also really took care of the baseball this homestand."

Pawtucket (33-30) has won nine of its last 12 games and five of its last six series at home.

Wilkerson (2-1) fired six scoreless, three-hit innings, striking out seven and walking one.

"I had good movement on my slider today which played really well off my fastball," said Wilkerson. "Didn't quite have the command I wanted but it kind of played in my favor as well.

In his four outings (three starts) since returning to Pawtucket on May 28, Wilkerson has a 1.40 ERA, 25 strikeouts and three walks.

"Wilkerson had a sneaky fastball today," said Boles.

Scott tossed hitless seventh and eighth innings before allowing a leadoff single in the ninth. Ramirez entered the game, induced a 6-4-3 double play grounder from Jermaine Curtis and a ground out from Brandon Allen to earn his second save of the season.

Louisville starter Keyvius Sampson (2-2) and reliever Drew Hayes combined to allow just three hits to the PawSox. But two of the three hits belonged to Ali Solis, including the game-winning hit.

Bryce Brentz led the second inning off with a double to right field. After a pair of groundouts and a walk, Solis grounded a single into left field to score Brentz with the only run of the game.

Solis, who also threw out Jose Peraza attempting to steal second base in the first inning, picked up his first hit and RBI with Pawtucket on the play.

After an off day tomorrow, the PawSox open a six-game road trip on Tuesday against the Indianapolis Indians at 7:05 p.m. Pawtucket righthander William Cuevas (4-2, 2.74) is scheduled to make the start against Indianapolis righty Jameson Taillon (4-2, 2.04).
