Travs fall 4-2 heading into All-Star Break

Arkansas returns home on Thursday, June 30th for a six-game homestand spanning Independence Day Weekend.

Springfield, MO - The Arkansas Travelers fell 4-2 to the Springfield Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Hammons Field.

RHP Victor Alcantara (L, 2-5) worked five innings and allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts, but Arkansas finished 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

Cardinals top pitching prospect RHP Luke Weaver (W, 4-0) tossed five innings and allowed a run (none earned) on six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts to notch his fourth win in five Double-A starts for Springfield.

The Cards scored a run in the second, but Arkansas tied the game 1-1 in the third, just to see Springfield counter with one in the bottom of the frame.

Springfield extended its lead to 4-1 in the sixth with two runs off LHP Edward Paredes.

DH Andrew Daniel and 3B Angel Rosa both produced two hits, the only two multi-hit games for the Travs.

Cardinals LF Nick Martini reached base four times with two hits and two walks.

RHP Eduardo Paredes worked two scoreless innings for Arkansas after Edward Paredes.

With the loss, the Travs fell to 33-42 on the season and 1-4 in the second half. Arkansas will return home to begin a six-game homestand spanning July Fourth Weekend beginning Thursday, June 30th vs. Midland. Tickets are available online at travs.com.
