Taylor Jungmann transferred to Biloxi from Colorado Springs

The former first round pick has made 26 Major League starts over the past two seasons

BILOXI, MS. - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster move that affects the Shuckers' roster. RHP Taylor Jungmann has been transferred to Biloxi from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The 26-year-old right-hander will start tonight's game two of the five-game series at Birmingham at 7:05 pm.

Jungmann, 26, opened the 2016 on the Brewers' Major League roster making five starts and going 0-4 with a 9.15 ERA (20.2ip, 21er), 13 strikeouts and 13 walks. The former first round pick (12th overall) in 2011 by the Brewers was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on April 29. In eight games, all starts for the SkySox, Jungmann was 1-3 with a 9.87 ERA (31.0ip, 34er), 24 strikeouts and 34 walks.

The Temple, TX native went 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 21 starts with the Brewers in 2015 and was 9-5 with a 2.42 ERA over his first 16 starts with 10 quality starts (96.2ip, 26er). He was 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA over his last 5 starts without a quality start (22.2ip, 24er). Jungmann produced 10 quality starts, going 8-1 with a 1.45 ERA in those starts (68.1ip, 11er).

Jungmann made his MLB debut on June 9, 2015 at Pittsburgh and earned a 4-1 victory as he allowed just 1 run on

3 hits in 7.0 innings (1bb, 5k, 1hr, 1hbp, 1wp) and his first career strikeout was Andrew McCutchen. Jungmann threw the team's only complete game of the season in a 7-1 win on 7/11 at Los Angeles as he surrendered just one run on three hits in 9.0 innings (2bb, 7k). Jungmann was named Brewers Pitcher of the Month for August (5gs, 3-2, 3.12era, 26ip, 30k, .247ba).

Jungmann pitched at the Double-A level, for the Huntsville Stars, during the 2013 and 2014 seasons and went 14-14 with a 3.90 ERA in 35 starts and was named a mid-season Southern League All-Star each season. In nine starts in 2014, Jungmann posted a 2.77 ERA. Over 26 Major League starts, Jungmann is 9-12 with a 4.56 ERA, 120 strikeouts and 60 walks over 140 innings pitched.

The 26-year-old right-hander attended Rogers (TX) High School for three years and then Georgetown (TX) High School. As a senior was named 2008 Texas Player of the Year by Gatorade and Louisville Slugger. He went on to attend the University of Texas and was selected 2011 Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-Big 12 honors and Big 12 All-Academic recognition in 2010 and 2011. Jungmann won the 2011 Dick Howser Trophy as the top collegiate player in the country and was a finalist for the 2011 Golden Spikes Award, which is given to the top amateur player in the country

The Shuckers' current roster is made up of 25 active players and three on the disabled list.

Biloxi will look to snap its three-game losing streak and even the series tonight at Regions Field in game two of the five-game series. Jungmann will make the start for the Shuckers, as the Barons will send out RHP Brandon Brennan (1-5, 10/16). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., with coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on the Biloxi Shuckers' Radio Network's flagship station WGCM 1240 AM, 100.9 FM, Pascagoula's WPMO 1580 AM and the TuneIn Radio app.

WHAT'S ON TAP:  Shuckers baseball returns to MGM Park when the club hosts the Jacksonville Suns at MGM Park, Monday, July 4th through Friday, July 8th. Celebrate a family friendly Independence Day with Shuckers baseball on the 4th, followed by a special Independence Day Patriotic Themed Fireworks Extravaganza. The sky will light up Biloxi with over 4,000 shells being fired from center field.
