Roe promoted to Baltimore

Orioles make six roster moves

The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated RHP VANCE WORLEY and C CALEB JOSEPH from the 15-day disabled list, selected the contract of RHP CHAZ ROE from Triple-A Norfolk, optioned RHP OLIVER DRAKE and C FRANCISCO PEÑA to Triple-A Norfolk, and placed LHP T.J. McFARLAND on the 15-day disabled list with left knee inflammation (retroactive to June 29).

Worley, 28, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 14 (retroactive to June 13) with a right groin strain. Over two rehabilitation games (one start) between Double-A Bowie and Class A-Advanced Frederick, he pitched to a 1.93 ERA (1 ER/4.2 IP). In 17 games (two starts) with the Orioles this season, Worley has gone 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA (12 ER/40.2 IP), including a 1.80 ERA (6 ER/30.0 IP) in 15 games as a reliever.

Joseph, 30, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 31 with a testicular injury suffered in the May 30 game vs. Boston. He batted .289/.348/.500 (11-for-38) with two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI in 12 rehabilitation games between Double-A Bowie (six games) and Class A-Advanced Frederick (six games). Joseph has played in 23 games with the Orioles this season, batting .182/.239/.212 (12-for-66).

Roe, 29, went 1-2 with four saves, while posting a 2.39 ERA (10 ER/37.2 IP) and 45 strikeouts over 33 games for Triple-A Norfolk this season. He had not surrendered a run over his last 15 appearances (15.2 IP) with the Tides since May 22. Last season, Roe went 4-2 with a 4.14 ERA (19 ER/41.1 IP) in 36 games with the Orioles. In 60 career Major League games, he has gone 5-2 with a 4.25 ERA (31 ER/65.2 IP) and 66 strikeouts.

Drake, 29, pitched to a 9.53 ERA (6 ER/5.2 IP) over four games with the Orioles this season.

Peña, 26, hit .219/.265/.313 (7-for-32) with one home run and three RBI over nine games with the Orioles this season. He hit his first career Major League home run on June 2 vs. Boston.

McFarland, 27, went 2-2 with a 5.63 ERA (15 ER/24.0 IP) in 15 games with the Orioles this season.
