AquaSox Lose Both Games of Double Header

The Emeralds combine to outscore the AquaSox 16-0 on Friday Night

EVERETT, WA: The AquaSox and Emeralds kicked off a double header on Friday night with the first game starting at 6:05pm. Both games went seven innings, and were dominated by the first place Eugene Emeralds. Along with a doubleheader, Friday night also featured a Presidential Webbly Bobblehead giveaway, presented by Tulalip Resort Casino. The first 1,000 fans took home the first of two presidential themed giveaways from our favorite frog. His campaign will pick up steam on July 20th, where the first 500 fans will take home a Webbly Campaign Button #WEBBLY2016.

Matt Rose left the yard in the first inning off the Mariner's Charlie Furbush. The solo shot went over the protective netting in left field, and on to the street, giving the Emeralds a 1-0 lead.

Later in the 1st, Wladimir Galindo hit a line drive two-run home run extending the lead to 3-0. Charlie Furbush's night ended after just 2/3 innings pitched. The first two batters grounded out to second, and then Furbush gave up a home run, hit a batter and then gave up another home run.

The lone AquaSox hit came off the bat of Ray Guerrini, a double off the wall in right-center field.

In the 5th, Chris Pieters hit a sacrifice fly to left field to increase the Emeralds lead to 4-0.

Joselito Cano threw a wild pitch with a runner on second and third in the top of the 6th, scoring another run for the Emeralds, 5-0.

Jose Paulino delivered six shut-out innings for the Emeralds, striking out 4 while only allowing 1 hit. Paulino entered tonight's game leading the Northwest League in ERA and WHIP.

Game two of the double header at Everett Memorial Stadium began at 8:40pm. Danny Garcia toed the rubber against Manuel Rondon.

Jose Paniagua got the Emeralds on the board in the 1st inning with an RBI double down the right field line. Chris Pieters tacked on to the Emerald lead making it 2-0 with an RBI groundout to short.

Paniagua struck again in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single, his second RBI of the night, increasing the lead to 3-0.

Later in the 3rd, Chris Pieters hit a 2 run double before being ran down in a pickle, moving the Emerald lead to 5-0.

In the 4th Yeiler Peguero delivered a 2-run single increasing the lead to 7-0. Matt Rose followed with his second home run of the night, a three run shot over the right-center field wall, putting the game out of reach at 10-0 Emeralds.

Following the offensive explosion of the Emeralds, AquaSox Manager, Rob Mummau, was asked to hit the showers early by the home plate umpire.

Game two of the double header ended with a final score of 11-0. The AquaSox will look to rebound from dropping 4 of 5 from the Emeralds when they take on the Spokane Indians for a 3 game set starting Saturday.
