Dwight Smith Jr. Has Three Hit Game Monday

Fisher Cats Fall At Home To Reading 9-5

Manchester, NH - Dwight Smith Jr. had three hits including a triple but the Fisher Cats fell 9-5 to Reading on Monday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Reading RF Dylan Cozens moved into a tie with his teammate Rhys Hoskins for the Eastern League lead with his 25th homer, a three-run shot in the first inning, and added a two-run double in the sixth.

Andrew Pullin went 4-for-5 with four RBI for the Fightin Phils (66-29) and Nick Pivetta (9-4) worked the first five innings for the win.

The Fisher Cats were down 4-0 in the second when they scored two runs. Rowdy Tellez tripled and would score when Emilio Guerrero was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Jorge Flores followed with a sacrifice fly, plating Ryan Lavarnway, who also had been hit.

New Hampshire (42-52) made it 4-3 in the third with three consecutive two-out singles by Rowdy Tellez, Smith Jr., and Lavarnway.

Pullin homered off starter and losing pitcher Luis Santos (5-2) in the top of the fourth, a three-run shot which gave Reading a 7-3 lead.

The Fisher Cats scored twice in the fifth inning. Roemon Fields singled and scored on a double by Jason Leblebijian. Seth Conner knocked in his first run for New Hampshire with a groundout, and then added his first career Double-A single in the seventh after coming on to play first base.
