Giants Out-slug Sixers 13-6

July 22, 2016

San Jose, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers lost their seventh consecutive ballgame as the San Jose Giants outslugged the Sixers 13-6 at San Jose Municipal Stadium on Thursday. The teams combined for 27 hits and all but one player that had a plate appearance in the game had at least one hit.

The Sixers loaded the bases against Giants' starter Phil Bickford with no outs in the first but the righty was able to escape allowing just one run on a RBI single by Zach Houchins, his 50th RBI of the season. Jake Jewell (1-9) was not as lucky in the bottom of the first when Giants got a run on Dylan Davis' RBI groundout and then two more runs on Jose Vizcaino Jr.'s two-run triple. San Jose (50-47, 11-16) went on to score often as they got eight runs off of Jewell in 4.1 IP. The Giants scored multiple runs in five of the eight innings they batted. Vizcaino tripled twice, had a single and knocked in five runs but left the game after rolling his ankle on the base paths. Ronnie Jebavy had a single, double and triple for the Giants while Davis and Ehire Arianza homered.

Every Inland Empire (32-65, 9-18) batter had at least one hit in the game. Taylor Ward had three for the Sixers while Jared Foster and David Fletcher each had two. Fletcher now has a 14-game hit streak while Foster has hit safely in each of the seven games he has appeared in for the Sixers.

Dusten Knight was credited with the win for San Jose and improved to 1-1 on the season. There was no half-inning in the contest in which a batter did not reach base in the three-hour 27 minute game.

The series continues Friday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
