Jose Osuna homered for the third consecutive day
July 23, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS (July 23, 2016) - Jose Osuna homered for the third time in as many days to carry the Indians to a 5-2 triumph over Charlotte on Saturday at Victory Field.

Charlotte (45-57) put runners on the corners with one away before Chad Kuhl induced an inning-ending double play.

Kuhl departed after only one inning, replaced by Justin Masterson. Masterson worked four solid innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out three.

The Knights increased their lead to 2-0 in the seventh inning on back-to-back base hits.

Indianapolis (52-50) knotted the game at two in the home half. Jose Osuna opened the frame with a single and Willy Garcia later chalked up his 22nd double of the year to plate him. An errant throw by shortstop Jake Peter allowed Garcia to scamper home.

Charlotte starter Tyler Danish allowed one run in seven innings of work before departing. Brad Goldberg (1-4) received the loss.

Josh Bell and Jason Rogers notched back-to-back hits in the eighth to put themselves on ahead of the red-hot Jose Osuna, who clubbed a three-run shot.

Trey Haley (2-4) was credited with the win while Jorge Rondon picked up his ninth save.

The series finale is set for Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
