AquaSox Trio Shuts Down Hops

Robert Dugger, Jeffeson Medina and Michael Koval lead Everett to 7-3 Victory
August 9, 2016

EVERETT, Wash. - Monday night the Everett AquaSox and Hillsboro Hops played the finale of a five game series at Everett Memorial Stadium. Starting pitcher Robert Dugger made his Northwest League debut, pitching four innings while only allowing two earned runs. Dugger pitched better than his line would suggest. His only blemish of the night came in the top of the third when he gave up a home run to Jason Morozowski. Jeffeson Medina and Michael Koval pitched five shutout innings in relief of Dugger to secure a 7-3 AquaSox win.

Dimas Ojeda gave the AquaSox an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run to right field. The blast was Ojeda's fourth of the season, tying him for the team lead.

Hillsboro responded with a home run of their own, a three-run shot by Jason Morozowski, giving the Hops a 3-1 lead in the top of the third.

University of Oregon's Austin Grebeck knotted the score at three in the bottom of the fourth by hitting a two-run single into shallow left field.

Jhombeyker Morales gave the AquaSox their second lead of the night at 4-3 on a sacrifice fly, scoring Eric Filia in the bottom of the fifth.

Everett put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh when they scored two insurance runs to increase the lead to 6-3. Jhombeyker Morales picked up his third hit of the night, an RBI single scoring David Greer. Eric Filia then scored from third base after Hillsboro committed a wild pitch.

David Greer added on to make it 7-3 in the eighth after he hit a single to the right-center wall, scoring Austin Grebeck from first due to a throwing error by Hillsboro.

Michael Koval closed out the game by tossing two shutout innings to secure a 7-3 AquaSox win in the series finale over Hillsboro.

Jhombeyker Morales finished the night with three hits and two RBIs. Eric Filia and Austin Grebeck also collected two hits.

Yojhan Quevedo was struck on the hand by a pitch and will be evaluated by team doctors tomorrow.
