August 14, 2016

EVERETT, Wash. - Saturday night the AquaSox celebrated Frogstock, a tip of the cap to the sixties. Additionally, a large crowd of 4,199 enjoyed post-game fireworks, presented by K&H Print Solutions. The AquaSox had their five game winning streak snapped, falling 11-7 to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Everett had their chances to win, leaving twelve runners on base throughout the night. The Frog's starting pitcher Robert Dugger (0-1) struggled with the long ball, tossing three and a third innings while allowing eight hits and two home runs.

Salem-Keizer's starter Matt Krook (1-1) began the night by walking three consecutive batters. Nick Zammarelli capitalized on Krook's lack of control by hitting a grand slam to right field, giving the AquaSox a quick 4-0 lead.

The Volcanoes struck back in the top of the second. Ryan Howard hit a solo home run beyond the left field netting, cutting Everett's early lead to 4-1.

Salem-Keizer rallied for four more runs in the top of the third, bringing the score to 5-4. First, Heath Quinn hit an RBI double down the third base line. Gio Brusa followed with a two-run double to tie the score at 4-4. The Volcanoes took their first lead of the night on a Ryan Howard RBI groundout scoring Brusa.

Dimas Ojeda tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single scoring David Greer from second base.

The Volcanoes erupted for three runs in the top of the fourth, giving Salem-Keizer a 8-5 lead over the AquaSox. Two runs came on a two-run home run by Kevin Rivera, clearing both walls in right field. The third run scored later in the inning on a wild pitch by reliever Elliot Surrey.

Everett cut away at the Salem-Keizer lead in the bottom of the fifth. Jhombeyker Morales hit an RBI double scoring David Greer, bringing the score to 8-6 Salem-Keizer.

Heath Quinn picked up his third RBI of the night on an RBI single in the top of the sixth, increasing Salem-Keizer's lead to 9-6.

Bryson Brigman brought the Volcano lead to 9-7 in the bottom of the seventh by hitting into an RBI forceout.

Salem-Keizer ultimately put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth. Heath Quinn hit an RBI single, then Ryan Howard hit into an RBI forceout to make it 11-7 Volcanoes.
