Marte Stifles Louisville, Tribe Wins 5-0
INDIANAPOLIS (August 16, 2016) - Kelvin Marte went six scoreless innings without allowing a hit and Austin Meadows drove in a pair of runs as the Indians picked up their 17th shutout victory of the season, 5-0. It was the Tribe's fifth win in its last six games.
Indianapolis (63-62) moved in front in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk by Elias Diaz. Max Moroff singled and Austin Meadows doubled in the frame as the Indians threated but only managed one run.
Kelvin Marte (4-2) was outstanding in his third start of the year, departing after six shutout innings. He walked two and struck out three while allowing no hits.
Louisville (60-65) recorded its first hit on an infield single by Jose Peraza to begin the seventh.
Austin Meadows salted the lead with a two-run triple in the seventh. He finished 2-for-4, including a double. Eleven of his 20 hits with Indy have gone for extra bases this season.
Drew Hayes (3-4) was charged with the loss after allowing one run in four innings.
The brief homestand will conclude on Wednesday at 1:35 p.m. before the team's final scheduled day off on Thursday.
