Albuquerque takes a 2-1 lead in series with Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City - The Albuquerque Isotopes grabbed the lead in their series against the Oklahoma City Dodgers with a 5-2 win Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Isotopes took the early lead Thursday and never trailed as they took a 2-1 advantage in their lone series of the season against the Dodgers in front of a crowd of 4,706.

Albuquerque's first run of the night came in the second inning when Tom Murphy homered out to center field with one out for a 1-0 lead.

A RBI single by Oklahoma City's Micah Johnson in the bottom of the frame tied the game, 1-1.

The Isotopes (58-66) regained the lead in the third inning.

Starting pitcher Harrison Musgrave led off the inning with a double and later scored on a two-out RBI single by Stephen Cardullo. Jordan Patterson followed with a RBI double to give Albuquerque a 3-1 advantage.

In the fourth inning, O'Koyea Dickson homered into the Dodgers bullpen in left-center field to cut Albuquerque's lead to 3-2. The home run was Dickson's 14th of the season and he has now hit safely in nine of his last 10 games.

The Dodgers were then held scoreless over the final five frames as the Isotopes outhit Oklahoma City, 10-4.

Back-to-back RBI doubles by Rafael Ynoa and Joey Wong in the sixth inning boosted the Isotopes to a 5-2 edge.

Albuquerque pitcher Musgrave (8-6) earned the win, allowing two runs and four hits over 7.0 innings with one walk and three strikeouts. Brian Schlitter earned his fifth save of the season.

Dodgers starting pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla (2-5) was charged with the loss, allowing five runs and eight hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Dodgers (70-54) wrap up their series against the Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Tomorrow is the second Devon Energy Hometown Heroes Military Celebration Night of the season and the evening's events will recognize the service and sacrifices of local military men, women and their families. Fireworks are also scheduled to follow the game.
