August 20, 2016

EVERETT, Wash.- Friday night the AquaSox and Dust Devils played the finale of a three-game series at Everett Memorial Stadium. The first 500 fans through the gates took home an AquaSox hat, then the entire crowd of 3,314 experienced a post-game firework show, presented by Judd & Black. Kristian Brito's grand slam in the bottom of the first deflated all of Tri-City's hopes of salvaging a win in the series. Everett's bullpen secured an 8-1 victory, completing a three-game sweep of the Dust Devils. With the win, the AquaSox improve to 16-6 in the second half and will head to Eugene to take on the Emeralds, who have won 15 straight games.

The Dust Devils took the game's first lead in the top first when Nate Easley reached base on a single and scored on a wild pitch, making it 1-0 Dust Devils.

Everett's Kristian Brito responded in the bottom of the frame by crushing a grand slam to right-center field, giving the AquaSox a 4-1 lead.

The Frogs exploded for four runs in the bottom of the third, increasing their lead to 8-1. Nick Zammarelli began the scoring barrage by reaching home on a wild pitch. Dimas Ojeda then added a run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. Nick Thurman followed with an RBI single, scoring Jason Goldstein. Finally, Jose Leal delivered an RBI single up the middle, plating Ojeda.

Starter Brandon Miller tossed three innings while allowing one run on three hits. The AquaSox bullpen followed by tossing six shutout innings in relief. Reggie McClain pitched three shutout innings, allowing only three hits while striking out one. Joselito Cano followed with two scoreless innings, setting the stage for Paul Covelle to throw a scoreless ninth inning, giving the AquaSox an 8-1 win over the Dust Devils.

Austin Grebeck and Kristian Brito finished the night with two hits apiece.
