Orioles make three roster moves

Pena, Despaigne recalled to Baltimore

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled RHP ODRISAMER DESPAIGNE and C FRANCISCO PEÑA from Triple-A Norfolk, and placed C MATT WIETERS on the paternity leave list.

Despaigne, 29, pitched to a 3.48 ERA (29 ER/75.0 IP) over 15 starts with Triple-A Norfolk this season, including surrendering one earned run over his last two starts (9.0 IP) with the Tides. In 15 games with the Orioles this season, Despaigne has gone 0-2 with a 4.81 ERA (13 ER/24.1 IP). Over 65 career Major League games (34 starts), he has gone 9-18 with a 4.75 ERA (130 ER/246.1 IP).

Peña, 26, batted .246/.298/.377 (47-for-191) with 11 doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 23 RBI in 54 games with Triple-A Norfolk this season. He hit safely in each of his last six games with the Tides, posting a .333/.385/.500 (8-for-24) slash line in that span. In nine games with the Orioles this season, he has hit .219/.265/.313 (7-for-32) with one home run and three RBI.

Wieters, 30, has hit .240/.294/.381 (75-for-312) with 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, and 45 RBI in 91 games with the Orioles this season. Over 849 career Major League games, he has batted .256/.317/.419 with 110 home runs and 416 RBI.
