Kipper twirls gem, Travs blank Drillers

Jordan Kipper improved to 12-6 and lowered his ERA to 3.29 with seven more shutout innings on Tuesday. Kipper is second in the league in wins and third in ERA.

Tulsa, OK - The Arkansas Travelers blanked the Tulsa Drillers 2-0 on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field.

RHP Jordan Kipper (W, 12-6) worked seven innings and allowed just four hits with one walk and one strikeouts. Kipper needed just 71 pitches to navigate through seven innings.

RHP Austin Adams (0.2 IP), LHP Edward Paredes (0.1 IP) and RHP Eduardo Paredes (S, 6) completed the shutout.

With nobody on and two outs in the top of the eighth, SS David Fletcher and 1B Alex Yarbrough drew back-to-back walks against RHP Yasiel Sierra (L, 1-2). After an 3B Andrew Daniel single loaded the bases, DH Jabari Henry lined a two-run single to center field to break the 0-0 tie and give Arkansas the lead.

Kipper lowered his season ERA to 3.29, third-best in the Texas League, in the win.

RHP Scott Barlow also worked seven scoreless innings for Tulsa and took a no-decision.

The Travelers moved back into second place and to within 1.5 games of first with the victory.

Tuesday's 2:04 game was the shortest nine-inning game for Arkansas this season.

The two teams will play game two of the four-game set on Wednesday night at ONEOK Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
